Classes & Consulting

As an educator for the first 30 years of my career, I have been on both sides of the firearms debate. During that time I struggled to find a good balance between being a safe and responsible firearm owner, and the communities affected by the non-responsible. As I dug deeper and deeper into trying to educate myself, I ran up against the ‘know-it-alls’, the ‘gate-keepers’, and the people that were just downright unfriendly to ‘new’ people in their community.

So Purple Mountain Armory was born with the goal of welcoming new people into the world of firearms in a safe, friendly, and educational atmosphere. Making sure that people have the opportunity to ask questions BEFORE accidents happen is why we have dedicated so much time and so many resources to our beginner program. But whether you’re a beginner, or you just want an opportunity to come and try a large selection of firearms out on the range, we think you’ll love it here on the Mountain.

InTro to Firearm Safety & Range Experience

$75/ Participant

This beginner class is perfect for those that have never been around firearms in the past. Maybe you have felt intimidated by them, or just have not had the opportunity to explore firearms in a safe environment. Maybe you are looking to purchase your first firearm and are looking for the opportunity to learn about the different types, styles, and benefits of different firearms. This safety brief and range experience will help ease the fears of those entering the world of firearms. The classroom portion is taught in one of our classrooms, or at your site with a minimum number of three (3) participants. The class is focused on firearm safety and how to make multiple types of firearms safe if the need arises. Participants will have the opportunity to explore different types of firearms in a friendly classroom environment without live ammo. Then once you and the Range Officer feel comfortable to proceed, you will have the option of completing the live-fire training which will be held at one of the available ranges or onsite after class held at our locations. This time will include the use of our firearms and ammo to practice the skills & knowledge learned in the class as well as to understand what to look for in a firearm purchase of your own. Classes held 3rd Saturday of the month.
