Rio Heavy Field Shotshells load a full 1-1/8 ounce of 7.5 lead shot into a 16-gauge 2-3/4 inch plastic hull. Rio built this round for the upland and small game hunter who wants a serious payload behind every shot. Pushed to 1300 fps that heavy charge puts more pellets on target. It delivers the dense even patterns that turn fast-flushing birds and quick small game into clean hits at practical field ranges.

The 16 gauge sits between the 12 and the 20 in both recoil and pattern density and this load plays straight to its strengths. A 1-1/8 ounce charge of 7.5 shot is a classic upland recipe. It runs heavy enough to fill a pattern for upland birds and rabbits yet works well in a lighter 16-gauge shotgun across long walks. The 2-3/4 dram equivalent keeps recoil steady and predictable so you get back on target for a quick follow-up.

Rio builds its Heavy Field line as dedicated sub-gauge game loads offered in 16 gauge 28 gauge and .410 bore. This is the 16-gauge 7.5 version tuned for feathered and furred small game where a tight pattern matters most. This 2-3/4-inch load is intended for 16-gauge shotguns with a compatible chamber. The plastic hull is suited to common pump semi-auto over/under and side-by-side platforms. The 7.5 lead shot bridges upland birds and small game giving you enough pellet count for reliable coverage without stepping down to a finer dove size.
