The Hornady XTP .45 caliber 250-grain jacketed hollow point is a component handgun bullet built for reloaders who want dependable terminal performance in hunting self-defense and law enforcement loads. Sized at .452"" diameter with a heavy 250-grain weight this cartridge delivers the deep controlled penetration that made the XTP one of the most trusted names in handgun bullets backed by the kind of accuracy that led competitive shooters to adopt it in the first place.

What sets the XTP apart is how deliberately it is engineered to expand. Precise serrations divide the bullet into symmetrical sections strategically weakening the jacket so it initiates controlled expansion even at low velocities. That means reliable performance across a wide range of handgun speeds whether you are loading light target rounds or full-power hunting and defense loads. Total uniformity of core density keeps expansion balanced and maintains in-flight stability for consistent repeatable accuracy downrange.

Hornady controls expansion by varying the jacket thickness down the length of the XTP a clear advantage over plated bullets that carry a uniform jacket thickness over the entire bullet. For revolver applications the cannelure helps achieve accurate consistent crimping and because every cannelure is applied before the final forming process there is no distortion to the finished bullet. It is this combination of controlled expansion and true stopping power that has built the XTP's world-class reputation among both target shooters and hunters.
